We won't be able to complete all 20 weeks of the NELI before the end of the summer term. What do we do?

What should you do if your school cannot complete NELI before the summer holidays?

If your school is unable to complete the NELI programme before the end of the summer holidays, extend delivery with these pupils as they move up into their next year group.

When should you re-assess pupils using LanguageScreen?

There is no need to re-assess with LanguageScreen before the summer holiday. Use LanguageScreen no more than once every 6 months.

If your school is following the extended delivery model, re-assess using LanguageScreen at the end of Part 2 of NELI.

What assessments should you complete before the summer holidays?

Before the summer holidays, complete the following optional records using the same materials from the start of the intervention:

  • Assessment of Narrative Speech and Grammar (Handbook 1, page 106 — verify page number in your current edition): use the same story sequence used before the intervention started.
  • Attitude and Behaviour Record Sheet (Handbook 1, page 108 — verify page number in your current edition): complete the end-of-programme column.
