How can we involve parents in NELI Preschool?

nvolving parents in NELI Preschool can further support children’s learning. For this reason, we’ve created home learning links (NELI@Home) which provide simple, engaging activities that can be enjoyed at home. The home learning links are available to download as a PDF or JPG for you to share with parents and carers via any platform that you use. The NELI Preschool training also includes suggestions to help you think of ways to engage parents in the programme.

There is no parent session incorporated explicitly into the programme plan, but we strongly encourage you to carry one out yourself. Other settings delivering NELI Preschool have previously hosted a parents’ evening to explain to parents how the programme runs and why oral language is critical, and parents tend to respond very well to this.

You are not obligated to tell parents of the children receiving Targeted Intervention that you are doing so as this element of the programme is as any other group activity you would carry out in your setting. However, parental engagement and partnership is an integral element of the programme, by adopting a shared approach with families the stronger the outcomes are likely to be.
