Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an identity and access management security method that requires two forms of identification to access resources and data. 2FA enables OxEd to secure school’s data.
The first time you log into your new account for the first time you will be asked to set up 2FA. You will be provided with two options:
- SMS text message (recommended) – this simply requests your mobile number. When you login the OxEd system will send a SMS text message to your phone with a veification code. Enter this into the OxEd system to gain access.
- 2FA app – The most commonly used 2FA apps are Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Twillio and Authy. Please chose one, install it on your phone, scan the QR code shown on screen to link a register the 2FA app to the OxEd system. Every time you log into OxEd’s system you will be required to input a 2FA code which you can generate from the 2FA app you chose during setup.
You will need to use the same mobile device each time you log into the OxEd system, so please ensure that you can use this within the school setting.
When you have successfully set up one of the two choices above, our system will also provide you with a list of backup codes. Please save these safely, so you can still access the OxEd system if your mobile device is unavailable. These are one-time use codes.
