Typically, schools have 1 group of 3-6 pupils accessing NELI per class. One NELI group involves training 1 member of staff to deliver NELI to pupils (usually a teaching assistant) and the class teacher is also required to access some of the training. Your nominated NELI lead could additionally opt to take part in training, however, they are not required to unless they are also a class teacher.
Therefore, a one-form entry school usually nominates 3 members of staff for training (a teaching assistant, class teacher and their NELI lead) and a two-form entry school usually nominates 5 members of staff (2 teaching assistants, 2 class teachers and their NELI lead). If you are a one form entry school where your NELI lead is also a class teacher then you would typically only need 2 training places. If you are a two form entry school where your NELI lead is also a class teacher then you would typically only need 4 training places. If you have members of staff who are job sharing you may need an additional training place to include them.
